Korean science fiction film "Sector 7" has been pre-sold to several countries at the film market in Cannes at the 64th annual Festival de Cannes, according to a media report.

London-based film magazine "Screen International" reported yesterday that the distribution rights for "Sector 7" was sold to Germany, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and the Middle East after buyers saw a two-minute promotional video for the movie at the film market in Cannes on May 11.

Late last year, the action flick caught the eye of foreign buyers at the American Film Market and was pre-sold to France, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

"Sector 7," produced by Yoon Jae-kyun and helmed by director Kim Ji-hoon, is about people's fight against a monster on an oil prospecting ship.

The movie, which is scheduled to hit local theaters this summer, will be produced in 3D format and star Korean actors Ha Ji-won, Ahn Sung-ki and Oh Ji-ho.
