The United States' city of Las Vegas has designated November 25 as a day for Korean pop music, better recognized as K-pop.

A press release by Billboard Korea on Tuesday said that starting this year, every November 25 will be recognized as 'KPOP Masters Day' in Las Vegas, making it the first time in the world for a country or city or set a day after a music genre.

"In the city of Las Vegas and in recognition of Billboard, Billboard Korea, MGM Grand, and KPMA LLC's efforts to bring some of the best that Korean pop music has to offer to the legendary stage like - the Grand Garden Arena. We celebrate their efforts in showcasing what the international music scene has to offer to the global music community and foster a collaborative environment for the arts," read the proclamation charter signed by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman on October 4.

Billboard Korea then explained in its statement that the "KPOP MASTERS" concert, to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on November 25 and 26, served as momentum for the designation.

Some of the biggest names in the K-pop industry, including TVXQ, SHINee, BEAST, G.NA, 4minute, MBLAQ, Brown Eyed Girls and SISTAR are set to appear at the concert marking the launching of the "Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100" chart in late August.
