Korean songstress IU has ranked on the top spot of Apple's iTunes charts with her latest release.
According to Apple's iTunes website on December 4, IU's second full-length album "Last Fantasy," which went on sale in the country on November 29, claimed the No. 1 spot on the album chart in Japan and Australia while placing third in the United States.
Locally, she has placed in first and second place on Hanteo's music chart with the regular and special edition of "Last Fantasy," respectively, while she had claimed the top spot on all online music charts with her title track "You&I" upon its release.
"Last Fantasy" features collaborations with some top Korean musicians including Yoon Sang, Lee Juck, Kim Hyung-suk, Yoon Jong-shin and English singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae.
IU gave her comeback performance over the weekend and is currently preparing to make her official debut in the music scene in Japan under major record label EMI Music Japan.
In Japan, she will release her licensed album and DVD on December 14, hold her first showcase in Tokyo next month and unveil her official Japanese debut single in February of next year.
IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, made her debut with her first mini-album "Lost and Found" in September 2008. She has produced a number of hit songs including "Boo," "Marshmallow" and "Nagging" with 2AM member Seulong.
