JYJ member Park Yuchun will star in a new TV series that will go on air starting May, according to the show's production team Curtaincall.

An official at Curtaincall confirmed over the phone on Wednesday that Park has been set as the male lead for an upcoming MBC drama titled “Goodbye Ms. Ripley” (tentative title) opposite co-stars Kim Seung-woo, Lee Da-hae and Kang Hye-jung.

“The main cast recently returned from location hunts in Fukuoka of Japan and we're coordinating on last minute details which will be made public soon,” explained the official.

“Goodbye Ms. Ripley” will the second drama that Yuchun will star in following his first acting role in KBS historical series “SungKyunKwan Scandal” (2010).

Yuchun at the time, was applauded for his role as the stubborn and uptight noble student who ends up falling in love with his school buddy who happened to be a girl disguised as a boy.

The official added that there has been concern to whether Park will be able to handle the drama's schedule given his two month-long World Tour as a member of his pop trio JYJ which is due to April but they decided to entrust him with the role given Yuchun’s enthusiasm over it.

“Goodbye Ms. Ripley” is set to air around mid-May after current MBC series “The Duo” finishes its run.

Yuchun is an actor and a singer in group JYJ, formed of other members Jaejoong and Junsu, who all made their debut in 2004 as part of popular boy band TVXQ, but later broke off despite their phenomenal success in Asia, after becoming involved in a legal dispute with the their agency SM Entertainment.

The trio made their comeback to the music scene in October of last year as a trio under the name JYJ and released their record in mid-October after which they held a global showcase and held their first concert as JYJ.

The group recently donated 600 million won via global relief agency World Vision to help a quake-stricken Japan.
