Lee Yoon-ji scores female lead role in SBS’ new historical drama

"The King 2Hearts" actress Lee Yoon-ji has been cast as the female lead in SBS' forthcoming historical drama, making it her second time to star in a historical series in four years. Her agency Namoo Actors said in a press release Tuesday that Lee has confirmed to play the character Ban-ya in SBS’ new drama “Daepungsoo” (in Romanized Korean).In the series scheduled to hit airwaves in October, Ban-ya (Lee) grew up in a poor background but later gains political power through her relationship with King Gongmin of the Goryeo Dynasty. Helmed by director Lee Yong-seok who produced "Iljimae" (SBS, 2008), the historical drama focuses on the transition period when the Goryeo Dynasty gave way to the Joseon Dynasty, which was established by King Yi Seong-gye (played by actor Ji Jin-hee).
