A controversial Korean film made with the support of 13,000 donators is finally hitting local theaters next month.

"26 Years," adapted from the web cartoon of the same name by Kang Full, will meet local moviegoers on November 29, the pic's distributor Chungeorahm said in a press release Thursday.

Revealing her feeling about the release, the movie's heroin Han Hye-jin left a comment on her Twitter account that read, “I just wrapped up the last shooting of our film, ’26 Years.’ I appreciate everyone who has helped me to live as Mijin [her character].”

Helmed by art director Cho Geun-hyeon of 2011 hit films “My Way” and “The Concubine,” the political film goes around the fictional story of five ordinary people who team up for the same goal: getting revenge on anyone who was in charge of the tragic massacre in Gwangju, South Korea, 22 years ago.

In the initial pre-production stage, the film producers had went through a number of difficulties for several years due to budget and investment issues. But with the help of more than 13,000 donators, over 500 million Korean won [around 450,000 U.S. Dollars] have been donated by people online for the movie to see the light.

In the much-anticipated picture, Han plays a professional shooter from the national shooting team while Jin Goo portrays a gangster from a criminal group. 2AM’s Seulong plays a young policeman whose life turns upside down by the historical event.
