K-pop's hottest icon PSY has grabbed his third trophy on Mnet’s music show with his sensational dance tune, edging out popular girl group KARA.
The star achieved the coveted triple crown record Thursday on “M! CountDown,” marking his world-famous tune “Gangnam Style” as the No. 1 song for three consecutive weeks.
However, PSY was absent on the weekly TV series due to his busy schedule in the United States, while the program's newbie host FTIsland's Lee Hong-gi took the award on behalf of the "Gangnam Style" singer saying that he would deliver it to him.
PSY's “Gangnam Style," nicknamed "The second Macarena" after the tune’s video gone viral, is currently in Los Angeles, California to make an appearance at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).
Meanwhile, last night's show also featured other performances by KARA, T-ara, ZE:A, B.A.P, Lexy, VIXX, Tasty, AOA, and tvN’s series “Respond 1997” couple Seo In-guk, A PINK’s Eunji.
While T-ara returned to the stage with their new single "SEXY LOVE," off the newly released EP album "MIRAGE," singer Lexy staged her comeback performance of her new single "NOLZA."
