Korean singer PSY has taken a step into furthering his music career overseas by signing a contract with a record label in the United States.

His agency announced in a press release Wednesday that PSY will pursue a singing career under the management of Schoolboy Records, part of Universal Republic.

Schoolboy Records is also in charge of managing the careers of pop star Justin Bieber and songstress Carly Rae Jepsen, while Universal Republic represents such artists as Gotye, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Mika.

Meanwhile, a video was posted on the official YG Entertainment blog on Wednesday with PSY and Scooter Braun, the manager to Justin Bieber, showing the two sharing a drink to celebrate their new venture regarding his future endeavors in the music market overseas.

Riding the wave of his global popularity, PSY's music video "Gangnam Style" reached over 100 million views as of September 5 at 9 a.m. KST, making him the first K-pop artist to achieve such feat.

PSY will also be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the world music scene by attending the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on September 6 (September 7 KST).
