PSY continues to boogie at No. 1 spot on Gaon's chart with "Gangnam Style"

Korean singer PSY's "Gangnam Style" remained strong atop Gaon's singles chart during the second week of August.

According to the data compiled by Gaon Thursday, PSY firmly held onto the No. 1 spot on Gaon's singles chart with “Gangnam Style” during the week of August 5 to 11, totaling a month long reign since its release on July 15.

The tune and the music video have gone viral with acknowledgements by international stars and overseas media outlets, while the video itself attracted over 32 million views as of August 16.

Just recently, PSY released the second version to the catchy song titled "Oppa, You're Just My Style," (translated title) starring 4minute’s Hyuna, with its lyrics portraying the woman's perspective to PSY's global hit song "Gangnam Style."

K-pop starlet BoA's new title track "Only One," from her seventh full-length album of the same name, came in second place after switching places with singing duo Davichi's tune "Do Men Cry" in third.

The top ten on Gaon's singles chart also included BEAST's "Beautiful Night," SISTAR's "Loving U," PSY's "Passionate Goodbye," 2NE1's "I LOVE YOU," CNBLUE's Lee Jong-hyun's "My Love," Teen Top's "Be Ma Girl" and Super Junior's "SPY."

Meanwhile, Gaon's albums chart showed that "SPY," which is the repackaged version of Super Junior's sixth full-length album "Sexy, Free & Single," was the top-selling album during the same time period.

Super Junior's latest release pushed former winner BEAST's fifth mini-album "Midnight Sun" to the No. 2 spot and Teen Top's special summer album "Be Ma Girl" rounded out the top three.
