Top K-pop idol G-Dragon of Big Bang is planning to resume his activities as a solo artist with his next solo album due out next month.

A rep with YG Entertainment said in a phone interview with the magazine on Thursday that G-Dragon's second solo album will most likely drop sometime in August.

"G-Dragon has been working on his album for quite some time now but August is a tentative release period," the official said.

Much hype and anticipation has been building up on his next solo project since YG revealed in March that Big Bang's leader has collaborated with top hip-hop artist Ludacris for the forthcoming release.

The officials then added that G-Dragon wrote the rap lyrics for the song and Ludacris finished recording his part late last year.

G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji-young, is the leader of five-member boy band Big Bang, discovered and trained by YG Entertainment.

He kicked off his solo singing career with his single "Heartbreaker" in September 2009 and followed it up with his live concert album "Shine a Light" he hosted in 2010.

Big Bang has made a successful comeback early this year with the release of their fifth mini-album "ALIVE" and its special edition "STILL ALIVE."
