K-pop idol Park Geonil of boy band Choshinsung has joined the ever-growing cast list of Cho Yeo-jung and Kim Kang-woo's forthcoming TV series.
Park has signed on to play Lee Dong-baek in KBS' "Lovers of Haeundae" (tentative title), which will air on August 13 after the current series, "Big," ends its run, according to Choshinsung's website Monday.
In the series, Lee is the youngest member of the group of gangsters that live in the city of Busan, which is run by Go So-ran's (played by Cho) family. He will also fall head over heels for Go's younger sister, Lee Kwan-soon (played by T-ara's Soyeon).
Park made his debut in 2007 as a member of Choshinsung. They have led a successful singing career in Japan, having released a total of 14 singles to date. The officials said the group's new single, "She's Gone," will become available in stores on August 29.
Aside from his group activities, Park has been doing some acting by appearing in KBS' "The King of Legend" in 2011 and KBS' drama special "Amore Mio" this year.
He has also starred in the Korean-Japanese TV series "Rainbow Rose," which aired in Japanese network TV Tokyo in April, opposite KARA's Kang Jiyoung.
