Choi Jung-won, Shin Ha-kyun to turn doctors in "Brain"

Actress Choi Jung-won and actor Shin Ha-kyun have been cast in an upcoming medical drama, according to the show's promoter 3HW on Thursday.

Through a press release, 3HW said that both Choi and Shin will play neurosurgeons in "Brain" which will be set in the neurological surgery department of a university hospital.

"We cast Choi for the role of Yoon Ji-hye because she is like her in that she has the image of being healthy and cheerful," the show's producer CJ E&M was quoted as saying in the statement.

Yoon will be meticulous and hard-core when it comes to her studies and work yet a warm-hearted and positive doctor with a strong sense of duty when it comes to her patients.

Regarding Shin's casting, CJ E&M said, "He has a good understanding of his character as well as being in the right age range to play him."

Shin, making his comeback to the small screen for the first time in eight years, will play Lee Kang-hoon who has chosen to become a doctor for his greed for success.

The two characters will constantly bicker yet develop feelings for each other in the show set for a premiere in November following current 16-part series "Poseidon" which went on air starting last week.

Choi, who debuted in 2001, rose to stardom through TV series “Famous Princesses” (KBS, 2006) and has since appeared in many television dramas including "The King and I" (SBS, 2007), "The Kingdom of The Winds" (KBS2, 2008), and “Wish Upon A Star" (SBS, 2010).

She will soon wrap up filming of her movie "The Perfect Game" (translated title), co-starring actors Cho Seung-woo and Yang Dong-geun, which is set for a release by the end of this year.

Shin, who made his debut in 1998, has mainly appeared in movies including "Joint Security Area" (2000), "Guns & Talks" (2001), "Welcome to Dongmakgol" (2005), "Thirst" (2009) and "The Frontline" (2011).

His last small screen role was 2003 MBC TV series "Good Person" also starring Jo Han-sun, So Yoo-jin and Han Ji-min.
