Korean female idols 2NE1 will perform their latest song "Lonely" on SBS' televised music program this month, according to the official YG Entertainment blog (www.yg-life.com) on Thursday.
The webpage revealed a message saying, "Everyone...By any chance do you wish to see 2NE1 perform on TV? Thinking about it.....May 29 4 p.m. 2NE1 will take the stage for ‘Lonely’ just once on a televised program. Do you think it will on SBS' 'Inkigayo?' The possibility is 100%."
This comes as a surprise to fans since in April, YG had declared that 2NE1 will not promote songs from their upcoming mini-album on television.
Instead, YG had set up their own Internet broadcaster “YG ON AIR,” which will deliver various forms of videos to fans, including music videos and behind-the-scenes clips for concerts as well as serving as a platform for 2NE1 to promote their album.
However, YG decided on 2NE1's televised performance on SBS after receiving endless requests from fans.
"Lonely" had taken over the No. 1 spot on real-time, daily and weekly music charts upon its release on May 12, while its music video became the most popular video on YouTube in several different countries as well as receiving over five million views as of May 19.
Their mini-album, featuring a total of six tracks including "Lonely," will be released on June 23 which they said they will promote by revealing a new track every three weeks.
They started by unveiling member Park Bom's solo tune "DON'T CRY" which has taken over various music charts for several weeks since its release on April 21.
Late last month, the songstress gave a live performance of the song on “YG ON AIR” and the girls are scheduled to sing “Lonely” for the first time this Thursday on the Internet channel.
Composed of other members CL, Sandra and Minzy, 2NE1 has been one of the most successful groups in the country since their debut in May 2009.
