SBS “Midas” stands sole winner on TV chart while “Detectives…” bid adieu SBS' drama "Midas" [SBS]

SBS drama “Midas” finally caught up with MBC’s “The Duo,” becoming the sole winner on the Mondays and Tuesdays primetime slot, revealed two media research companies on Wednesday.

SBS’ “Midas,” starring Jang Hyuk, Kim Hee-ae and Lee Min-jung, which is a story of money war between a young and ambitious lawyer and a conglomerate family, was declared this week's winner after posting an average viewership rating of 13.1 percent on Total National Multimedia Statistics’ (TNmS) chart and 15.9 percent on AGB Nielsen Media Research’s (AGB) poll.


Previous winner “The Duo,” which ruled TNmS' chart for the past six weeks and another five weeks on AGB’s report, came second on both charts this time after yielding an average viewership rating of 12.6 percent and 15.3 percent, respectively.

A historical drama starring Chun Jung-myung, Lee Sang-yoon and Han Ji-hye, "The Duo" portrays the life of common people in 19th century Korea through the eyes of a noble boy and a pauper boy who got switched at birth.


Meanwhile, KBS drama “Detectives In Trouble” which continued to trail in the primetime race, finished its run yesterday with an average viewership rating of 7.3 percent on TNmS' report and 7.25 percent on AGB’s survey.


The 16-part series starring Song Il-kook, Song Ji-hyo, Lee Jong-hyuk and Park Sun-young went on air starting March 7 and featured detectives’ struggle to resolve one tough case after the other, often risking their lives.


In the final episode Se-hyuk (played by Song Il-gook) and Jung Il-do (Lee) who secretly teamed up with each other, manages to secure proof to sue a corrupted police commissioner who was behind a crime case that cost the life of Se-hyuk’s daughter five years ago.


Taking the baton will be a romance series “Baby Faced Beauty” starring Jang Na-a, Choi Daniel, Ryu Jin, Hyeun Young, Hong Rok-ki which will premiere on May 2.


"Baby Faced Beauty," helmed by directors Lee Jin-seo and Lee So-yeon, tells of 34-year-old Lee So-young (played by Jang) who lies about her age and begins working at a textile company and meets Choi Jin-wook (played by Choi) who falls in love with her.
