Korean boy band TVXQ were deemed the winners of televised music programs over the weekend in just a week of making their comeback.

TVXQ claimed the No.1 spot on both KBS' Friday music show "Music Bank" and SBS' Sunday music program "Inkigayo" with their new song “Why (Keep Your Head Down),” the title track to their album of the same name that they started promoting on television from January 7.

The album itself was released a few days prior to their activities -- the special edition on January 5 and the regular edition a week later.

“We express our thanks, our agency and our colleagues who gave us the strength to go on,” said TVXQ members who returned to the local music scene after a two-year hiatus.

Other performers on Friday’s program included artists Secret, Sistar, Popsicle, Dal★shabet, MBLAQ, and TEEN TOP.

Sunday’s music programs featured the stages of GD&T.O.P, Secret, Sistar, Dal★shabet, INFINITE, Hangroo, Piggy Dolls, T-ara, TEEN TOP.

TVXQ, formerly composed of Xiah Junsu, Hero Jaejung, Micky Yuchun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho, had been one of the biggest K-pop names in Asia after debuting in 2004 but have ceased to pursue their activities as a five-member group after Jaejung, Yuchun and Junsu filed a lawsuit against agency SM Entertainment.

The three are now leading a singing career as trio JYJ while Changmin and Yunho have remained TVXQ.
