2PM’s “Hands Up” shoots up to No. 1 on Gaon chart

Male group 2PM topped Gaon's singles chart with their club tune “Hands Up” during the fourth week of June. “Hands Up,” which entails strong beats and energetic choreography, is the title track to their second regular album of the same name released on June 20. The No. 2 spot was claimed by girl group f(x)’s “Hot Summer” which went up three steps from its previous ranking.“Hot Summer,” also a dance number that made full use of the powerful sounds of the synthesizer, is an electronic pop tune from the group’s “Hot Summer’ f(x) 1st Album Repackage” released on June 21. “A Fool” which is songstress Lena Park’s latest mission song on MBC’s music reality show “I’m A Singer” aired two weeks ago, entered the chart at third place.The ballad which was first unveiled in singer Park Hyo-shin’s 2009 album “The Gold,” was re-arranged to fit Lena’s performance on June 19 and placed her second among the seven contestants. Meanwhile on the albums chart, 2PM triumphed once again by placing their aforementioned album on top of the chart. “HANDS UP,” composed of 13 songs including self-composed songs by member Junho and Junsu, has been sweeping several local music charts ever since its release early last week. SS501 member Kim Hyung-joong's first mini-album "Break Down" took second place on the chart, rising three steps from the previous session.Released on June 8, the record contains a number of songs including title track "Break Down," “Please,” “ Kiss Kiss” and “Yes I Will.” Arriving at No. 3 was Block B’s first mini-album “New Kids On the Block” which hit stores on June 23.The eight-track album composed of rap and hip hop music was produced by well known singer and music producer in Korea Cho PD and features title track “Go and Tell” as well as other songs “Halo,” “U Hoo Hoo” and “Wanna B.” ※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
