Documentary film "Planet of Snail" invited to Tribeca Film Festival in NY

Korean documentary "Planet of Snail" will compete against other international features at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) in New York, the pic's promoter All That Cinema said in a press release on Thursday.

All That Cinema stated that "Planet of Snail" will be screened under the 'World Documentary Competition' against 21 other candidates. "Planet of Snail" is the first Korean documentary to be invited to TFF which will take place in New York City from April 18 to 29.

The firm added that the "Snail," scheduled to be open in local theaters on March 22, will also make its premiere throughout the United States this summer.

“Planet of Snail,” a melodramatic documentary helmed by director Yi Seung-Jun, follows the life story of a man who has been deaf and blind since birth while showing his interactions with the world and his loving wife.

The film was screened at the 12th Persons with Disabilities Film Festival and this year's EBS International Documentary Festival and won the top prize at the 24th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in November of last year.
