Korean girl group 2NE1 has become the first Koreans to grace the cover of weekly Japanese magazine WWD Japan.

The news came on Friday through Oricon's official website which also stated that the girls will be on the cover of the winter issue of the publication which in the past has been adorned by names such as figure skater Asada Mao and actress Miyazawa Rie.

Oricon's report then stated that the four girls of 2NE1 wore over 323,000 dollars worth of high fashion brand BALMAIN's clothes for the shoot held in mid-October in Japan.

2NE1, formed of members Park Bom, Sandara Park, CL and Minzy, has been one of Korea's most successful and popular groups in the country since their debut in 2009.

Their singing career in Japan, which they kicked off in September of this year, took off to a favorable start as well, topping the Oricon chart with their debut release in the country to make them the first Korean artist to achieve the feat.

Then just this week, the girls released their first original Japanese single, produced in two editions, with ranked ninth on Oricon's daily chart on the day of its release.

The girls, along with their YG Entertainment labelmates Big Bang, Se7en, Gummy, PSY and Tablo, will hold a joint concert, marking the 15th anniversary of their firm, in Korea in December and in Japan the following January.
