Female idol group Girls' Generation member Sooyoung has been asked to play a doctor in an upcoming TV series, her first leading role in acting.
An official with Sooyoung's agency SM Entertainment told 10Asia over the phone on Wednesday that they are "looking into the role in a positive light although nothing has been set."
If Sooyoung takes on the drama she will play a doctor of a car racing team in the racing series named "Speed."
"Speed" will be helmed by director Yang Yun-ho of smash-hit series "IRIS" and the drama will be one of the programs to show in time with the opening of Chosun Ilbo's new general programming cable channel CSTV set for December.
Sooyoung, 21, has tried her hand at acting before starting with sitcom "Unstoppable Marriage" in 2008, then in film "Hello Schoolgirl" the same year and she also made a cameo appearance in SBS TV series "Paradise Farm" earlier this year.
