Korean actor Baek Sung-hyun has been cast in an upcoming historical drama, according to his agency Sidus HQ on Wednesday.
A press release from Sidus said that Baek will play the role of Do Won-goon, the son of Soo-yang dae gun (Kim Young-ho) and Queen Jeong-hee (Kim Mi-sook), in JoongAng Ilbo's new general programming cable channel jTBC "Queen Insu" (tentative title) set to air this December.
"Queen Insu," helmed by producer Lee Tae-gon, will revolve around Queen Sohye's life, the mother of Seongjong who was the ninth king of the Joseon Dynasty with her early years played by T-ara's Eunjung and the older Queen Sohye by actress Chae Si-ra.
Baek made his first big appearance as the child version of actor Kwon Sang-woo's character in "Stairway to Heaven" (SBS, 2003) and has since appeared in series "Elephant" (MBC, 2008) and "The Accidental Couple" (KBS, 2009).
He has also starred in the big screen with roles in "Marathon," (2005) "Our School's E.T.," (2008) and "Blades of Blood" (2010).
