Korean female idols 2NE1 proved to be an unstoppable force, taking home their first win on Mnet's music program with their new song.
2NE1's "Ugly," the title track to their second mini-album, was named the winner on cable music program "M! CountDown" against former No. 1 miss A's "Good-bye Baby" and T-ara's "Roly-Poly."
"We want to thank Yang Hyun-suk, the C.E.O. of YG Entertainment, for everything and producer Teddy," 2NE1 leader CL said in their acceptance. "We also want to thank all the Blackjacks [name of 2NE1's fans] for showing their support and love."
The song, about a girl who believes she is not beautiful compared to other girls, is one of the six tracks to 2NE1's latest release which also includes past chart-toppers "Don't Cry," "Lonely," "Hate you," "I am the Best" and bonus tune "Don't Stop the Music."
2NE1, formed of other members Park Bom, Sandara Park and Minzy, is known as one of the most popular girl groups since making their debut in May 2009.
The quartet will hold their first concert titled "NOLZA" at the Olympic Park Hall for three days starting August 26 and kick off their concert tour in Japan the following month.
