After School UIE to start solo activities this month

Korean idol UIE from girl group After School will kick off her solo singing career this month, according to her agency Pledis Entertainment on Thursday.

"UIE will begin promoting a solo song this month," a PR official from Pledis told 10Asia over the phone although declining to reveal further details on her upcoming album or schedule. "We are still in talks to see how UIE will go about her promotional activities so we will unveil more information at a later date."

UIE, whose real name is Kim Yoo-jin, made her debut in as one of the vocalists to girl group After School in 2009. The girls recently finished promoting title track "Shampoo" from their first full-length album "VIRGIN."

Outside of her group activities, UIE had appeared in several TV series including "Queen Seok-deok (MBC, 2009) and "He's Beautiful (SBS, 2009)." She has been cast in an upcoming KBS weekend series "Golden Pond (translated title)" which will air in August.

UIE is also the host of SBS' variety show "Night After Night" and has played a make-believe couple in MBC's "We Got Married" opposite actor Park Jae-jung.
