Korean girl group KARA has continued to cause waves in Japan with their DVD topping the prestigious Oricon DVD chart, making them the first foreign female artists in 12 years to achieve the feat.
KARA's latest DVD titled "KARA BEST CLIPS," which went on sale in the country on January 23, placed at No. 1 under the overall category on Oricon's DVD chart, according to Oricon's chart as of March 2.
"KARA BEST CLIPS" features music videos and hit songs by KARA, while their music videos for "Lupin," "Mister," "Wanna" and "Pretty Girl" have ranked sequentially in first through fourth place followed by "Jumping" at No. 8 and "Honey" in tenth on Japan's Apple iTunes music video category.
KARA, composed of members Gu Hara, Han Seung-yeon, Park Gyu-lee, Kang Ji-young and Nicole has been one of the most popular girl groups in Korea since making their debut with their first album "Blooming" in 2007.
The group then expanded their career to Japan in August where they enjoyed equal success, being named best new artist of the year at the 25th annual Japan Gold Disc Award and having placed at No. 1 on the Oricon chart's listing for the most successful new artist of 2010 among other acclaims.
They claimed the title of double platinum status with their song "Mister," which received over 500,000 paid downloads, and won platinum status with "Jumping" which received over 250,000 downloads.
The girls recently revealed a teaser music video for their new song "Jet Coaster Love" which made its debut atop Japan's Recochoku mobile music chart a day after its release last month.
