Girls' Generation's DVD wins gold disc status in Japan Girls' Generation [SM Entertainment]

Korean female idols Girls' Generation continues to shine in Japan with their DVD becoming a certified gold disc in the country.

According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on Friday, the girls' DVD titled "‘少女時代到 ~日記念盤~New Beginning of Girls' Generation," which was released in the country on August 11, sold over 100,000 copies to be acknowledged as a certified gold disc.


The DVD features a number of their hit songs as well as their respective music videos. Girls' Generation had already scored certified gold status with their first and second Japanese singles "Genie" and "Gee" last year.

They made their debut in Korea in 2007 with their first album "Into the New World" and has since produced a several hit songs including "Gee," "Genie" and "Oh!"


They then expanded their singing career into the Japanese music market in August last year where they became the first Korean girl group to place No. 1 on the Oricon chart.


The girls unveiled the Japanese version of their hit song "Run Devil Run" last month and are preparing for the release of their third Japanese single.
