Actor Cho Seung-woo cast in a new baseball film

Actor Cho Seung-woo has been cast in a new sports film that will reenact one of the most popular baseball matches in Korean history. An official to the film’s producer Million Story told 10Asia over the phone today that actor Cho Seung-woo will star as a baseball player named Choi Dong-won opposite actor Yang Dong-geun taking on the role of another baseball player named Sun Dong-ryeol, in the film tentatively titled "The Perfect Game."The film will revisit one of the most exciting matches in Korean baseball history, between Choi of the Haitai Tigers and Sun of the Lotte Giants in the summer of 1987, which ended in a tie after being extended 15 innings.The rivalry between the two was further heated up by regionalism at the time with Choi representing the Jeolla Province and Sun, the Gyeongsang Province. The film, which will be helmed by director Park Hee-gon, is expected to crank in around late May and premiere at the end of this year.Cho, 31, is one of the most popular actors in Korea who has appeared in numerous movies since his debut in 1999. He rose to stardom with his role "The Classic" (2003) alongside actress Son Ye-jin, "Marathon" and "Tazza: The High Rollers."
