Kim Nam-joo tapped as leading lady in new KBS TV series

Top Korean actress Kim Nam-joo is about to end a year hiatus and make her comeback to the small screen as the female lead in a new KBS series, according to the show's promoter 3HW on Tuesday.

3HW said that Kim will play a successful career woman named Hong Yoon-hee in the upcoming weekend drama "You are an Unexpected Piece of Good Luck" (translated title) set to air next month after current series "Ojakgyo Brothers" ends its run.

"We felt that Kim was right for this role while we were writing out the script for the show because it seemed like they shared some similarities," an official with the series said in the statement.

"Luck," helmed by Kim Hyung-suk and written by Park Ji-eun, will tell the story of Hong Yoon-hee who gets married to a doctor and finds herself in troublesome situations after moving in with her in-laws.

Kim is well-known for her appearances in TV series "Model (SBS, 1997)," "The Boss (MBC, 1999)" and "Her House (MBC, 2001)."

She then starred in MBC's "Queen of Housewives" in 2009 and in the follow up to the series in "Queen of Reversal" for which she won the grand prize at MBC's Drama Awards last year.
