Russian pianist Andrei Gavrilov will hold a recital in Korea this September, returning to the country for the first time in eight years.
The concert's promoter Bravo Comm announced in a press release on Friday that Andrei Gavrilov will perform at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center on September 24.
Andrei Gavrilov was born into a talented family with his father Vladimir Gavrilov being known as one of Russia's leading painters in the middle of the 20th century and his mother Assanetta Eguiserian was a famed pianist who gave Andrei his first lesson at the age of 2.
He won first prize in the 1974 International Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 18 and in the same year made a triumphant international debut at the Salzburg Festival while substituting for Sviatoslav Richter. He has subsequently enjoyed a distinguished international career which has included performances with many of the world's greatest orchestras.
Andrei Gavrilov had performed in a number of countries and recorded a slew of albums and after a seven year hiatus he set forth on his world tour.
