Actress Han Eun-jung and T-ara member Hyomin have been cast as main leads in an upcoming horror flick, according to their agency Core Contents Media on Tuesday.
According to a press release by Core Contents Today, Han and Hyomin will play sisters in Asia's first 3D-horror film titled “Gisaengryeong” (translated as “Parasite Soul”) about a ghost child that meets an untimely death and possesses the body of another person through which she carries out brutal murders.
Han will appear as the older sister Seo-ni who becomes the first person who finds out about the existence of the parasite soul and Hyomin a cheerful teenager named Yoo-rin who holds the key to all the issues in the film. Han's role was originally set to be played by actress Kim Gyu-ri.
The film will be co-produced by EastSKY Film and KDC Corporation with the latter company in particular, in charge of the 3D effects.
Director Yang Yun-ho, the famed producer of KBS spy series “IRIS" (KBS, 2009) and films “Fighter In the Wind" (2004), and “Holiday" (2005) is to helm the film which is expected to premiere around August of this year.
Han, 30, debuted in 1999 with MBC drama “For Love” and has since appeared in numerous leading roles in TV series including “ “Grudge” The Revolt of Gumiho” (KBS, 2010) , “Cinderella Man” (MBC, 2009), “Seoul 1945” (KBS, 2006) and “Full House” (KBS, 2004) as well as films such as “The Divine Weapon” (2008).
Hyomin, 21, from five-member idol group T-ara who is currently majoring in acting in SungKyungKwan University, made her first acting debut appearing as a college student in SBS drama “My Girlfriend is Gumiho” starring Lee Seung-gi and Shin Min-ah last year.
