Girl group KARA's new Japanese single has topped Japan's prestigious Oricon chart, making it the first time for them to reach No. 1 with an album.
Numbers shown on Oricon's official website today said that KARA's third Japanese single "JET COASTER LOVE" released two days ago, was the winner of Oricon's daily chart on April 6 after selling some 28,640 copies of their new release.
KARA has been first on the Oricon before but with their DVD titled "KARA BEST CLIPS" released in February of this year which stood atop the weekly chart for two weeks.
KARA has said they will donate the profits they see from sales of their third single to relief and rescue efforts for quake-stricken Japan while member Gu Hara has already made a contribution for the cause individually.
Considered the most successful Korean girl group to break into the Japanese market, KARA has set numerous records on the Oricon chart.
They have halted all activities as a five-member group in Korea however, with members Han Seungyeon, Kang Jiyoung and Nicole having applied for their contract with agency DSP Media to be terminated.
