K-pop idol group SHINee made a surprise visit to an orphanage in Japan over the weekend, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Monday.
SM said the boy band, who performed at a K-pop festival in Sapporo on Saturday, made an unscheduled visit to a local Japanese orphanage the following day, presenting the children with t-shirts, Korean snacks and stuffed animals.
SHINee also played games with the children as well as watching a performance of Japanese drums presented to them by the kids.
"Even though it was for a short period of time, it was meaningful making memories with the children. We hope to visit again soon," the group was quoted as saying.
SHINee has been a hit in South Korea and several countries throughout Asia since making a debut in 2008 with their first mini-album "Replay."
The group is currently promoting their third mini-album around Asia and will head to Hong Kong on February 12 followed by Cambodia and Fukuoka.
