Korean actor Kang Ji-hwan and singer-turned-actress Sung Yu-ri have been cast as the leads in an upcoming movie, according to the film's promoter CJ Entertainment. CJ announced in a press release that Kang will take on the role of a detective named Cha Chul-soo and Sung will play an up-and-coming designer named Young-jae in the new action-comedy "Detective Cha" (translated titled) set to open in theaters next year. "Detective Cha," helmed by director Shin Tae-ran, will tell the story of Cha who goes undercover as a model in order to solve a crime. "I am really excited and anxious to be working with director Shin after starring in his last film 'My Girlfriend is an Agent' and with Sung who I have worked with on KBS' Hong Gil-dong, the Hero,'" Kang was quoted as saying. "I am nervous in making my comeback to the big screen but I feel at ease since I will be working with Kang again," Sung said in the press release. Kang made his debut in the entertainment industry through the musical "Rocky Horror Show" in 2001 and has since appeared on the small and big screen with his roles in "Be Strong, Geum-soon!" (MBC, 2005). He recently starred in SBS' TV series "Lie to Me" opposite actress Yoon Eun-hye. Making her debut as a member of former girl group Fin.K.L in 1998, Sung has expanded her career into acting with roles in "Thousand Years of Love," "Swallow the Sun" and movie "Rabbit and Lizard." Her latest work was in KBS' drama "Romance Town" alongside actor Jung Gyu-woon. ※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
