MBC 'IT'S ME, GRANDMA' nominated at Monte-Carlo TV fest

MBC's TV series "IT'S ME, GRANDMA" has been nominated in three categories at the 51st annual Monte-Carlo Television Festival to be held in Monaco next month. According to the official website of the media fest, "IT"S ME, GRANDMA," helmed by Korean director Jung Dae-youn, will compete for the prize of the Nymphes d'Or in the categories of best television film, best director and best actress (veteran actress Na Moon-hee). "IT'S ME, GRANDMA," a one-act drama which aired on September 26 last year, tells the story of Eun-ha (played by actress Nam Ji-hyun) who lives with her aunt and works at a karaoke bar to make money. Eun-ha later begins to con old people for their money through voice phishing and she then begins to form a relationship with a grandma (played by Na). First established in January 1961 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco, the Monte-Carlo Television Festival was created to encourage a new art form in the service of peace and understanding between men. Prince Rainier wanted to recognize television as an exceptional means of bringing cultures together as well as enhance one's knowledge. Many celebrities have taken part in the TV fest as jurors including H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco who has served as the Honorary President of the Festival since 1988. The winners of the fest are rewarded with the Golden Nymph statuette and in 2004, Korea took home the award for best television film for director Kim Yoon-chul's "Swamp."
