Super Junior-K.R.Y. [SM Entertainment]
Super Junior-K.R.Y., sub-unit of popular idol group Super Junior, have been chosen to sing the theme song for the new season of Mnet's music competition "SuperstarK," according to the show's producer Mnet. On Tuesday, Mnet announced in a press release that the theme song sung by Super Junior-K.R.Y. will play starting from the show's preliminary round in Busan on April 24 till its wrap-up in November. "We have had some of the top artists in Korea including Jewelry and 4minute sing the theme song for 'SuperstarK' during the past seasons," an official from the show was quoted as saying. "This year we have contestants from other countries in Asia including China and Thailand so, we chose Super Junior-K.R.Y since they have a fan base in those countries." "We are grateful to sing the theme song for a popular television show and we hope that many people appreciate music too," the members of Super Junior-K.R.Y. were quoted as saying. "SuperstarK," the equivalent of American Idol" in the United States, first took off in 2009 and made stars out of winners Seo In-guk from season 1 and Huk Gak of season 2. First formed in November 2006, Super Junior-K.R.Y. -- composed of members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung -- is known for being the ballad unit of the four sub groups of Super Junior that include Super Junior-T, Super Junior-M and Super Junior-Happy. They have held a number of concerts in Japan and Taiwan last year and participated in the soundtracks for entertainment show dramas in the country. ※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
