Chinese series "Three Kingdoms" wins grand prize at Seoul Drama Awards

Chinese TV series "Three Kingdoms" won the grand prize of the sixth annual Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) held last night, beating out a total of 204 dramas from 37 countries.

"Three Kingdoms," based on the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" by Luo Guanzhong, is a 95-part series which began its run in China on May 2010.

The top excellence for feature series went to Romanian drama "In the Name of Honour" and excellence award to Brazilian show "Passione" while veteran actress Na Moon-hee received the best actress award for her role in the short TV series "It's me, Grandma."

JYJ member Park Yuchun, who made his acting debut last year, received two honors including the Asia Popularity Award and Best Hallyu Drama Actor Award for his role in KBS' drama "SungKyunKwan Scandal."

SBS' hit series "Secret Garden," starring Hyun Bin and Ha Ji-won, took home three awards; for Best Hallyu Drama Director to producer Shin Woo-chul, Best Hallyu Drama Writer to scenarist Kim Eun-sook and Best Original Soundtrack for song "That Woman" by songstress Baek Ji-young.

KBS' drama "Marry Me, Mary” took home the award for Hallyu Drama Top Excellence and actress Moon Geun-young, who played Mary, won the Hallyu Drama Actress Award.

This year's festivities were hosted by Hallyu star Ryu Si-won and Han Go-eun and featured performances by girl group T-ara, boy band BEAST and Baek Ji-young.
