Boy band BEAST embarked on their first fan tour in Asia this weekend, starting by meeting with thousands of fans in Malaysia and Singapore.
Through a press release on Monday, BEAST's agency Cube Entertainment said that the boys met with some 5,000 fans at Malaysia's Sunway Lagoon Resort in Kuala Lumpur on July 1 and another 5,000 fans at the Singapore EXPO MAX Pavillion the following day.
At the events, BEAST sang a number of their hit songs for fans as well as engaging in dialogue with them. A surprise birthday part was also held for the group's leader Du-jun whose birthday is on July 4.
"We're happy to get to hold our first fan meeting tour since our debut and we're even more moved to see that everybody was singing along to our songs," the members of BEAST were quoted as saying in the statement.
The fan tour will carry on into Thailand on July 9, Japan a week later, Taiwan on July 22 and 23 and China on July 30.
BEAST, also composed of members Hyun-seung, Yo-seop, Dong-woon, Gi-kwang and Jun-hyung, has been one of the most popular boy bands in Korea since making their debut in 2009 with a number of hit songs under their belt including "SHOCK," "Soom" and "Beautiful."
They had gained popularity in several countries in Asia as well after taking part in events overseas starting the summer of last year and made their official debut into the Japanese music market earlier this year which has taken off to a successful start.
