Songstress Ok Ju-hyeon’s song “One Thousand Days” rose as the new winner on music cable channel Mnet’s weekly singles chart as of May 30 to June 5.

“One Thousand Days,” which was originally the title track to singer Lee Seung-hwan’s fourth album “Human” (1995), climbed 82 steps to reach its present position.

The same song also helped Ok be crowned the winner on the first session of the fourth round of competition for MBC's music reality show “I’m A Singer" among six other contestants on May 29.

Kim Bum-soo’s “Never Ending Story,” also performed on the same day for the same show, too climbed a whopping 97 steps to take the No. 2 spot on the latest singles chart.

The song which expresses one's desire to meet a certain person again was first released in 2002 by Korean rock band Boohwal in their eighth album “Dawn.” Kim was placed as sixth in the show with it.

Third on the chart was four-member rock band FTIsland’s song “Hello Hello” which went up four steps from the previous chart.

“Hello Hello,” which is a title track to the group’s latest mini-album “RETURN” released in late-May, features fast-beat rock music about a sad love story in which the singer repeatedly says hello, instead of goodbye, to the lover who is leaving.

Meanwhile on the albums’ chart, “I’m A Singer Competition 4-1: Singing A Song Of My Favorite Musician” released on May 29 and “I’m A Singer Competition 3-2: Songs Recommended By Netizens,” both for "I'm a Singer" released on May 22, took first and second place, respectively.

However, while “Competition 4-1” went up 25 steps to reach the top, previous winner “Competition 3-2” got pushed back a step to settle at No. 2.

Consequently, songstress Baek Ji-young’s eighth album “PITTA” which was ranked on second place the previous week, was also pushed back a step to land third on the latest chart.

PITTA, meaning varied in colors and shape, contains various genres of songs within the album, from ballad to dance numbers including its title track “Average” in which a woman berates her past lover for continuing to hurt her even after their relationship was over now.
