CNBLUE song cleared of plagiarism charges

Popular rock band CNBLUE's debut song "Alone" has become free of plagiarism charges.

A press release by the boys' agency FNC Music announced Wednesday that a court sided with "Alone" composers Kim Do-hoon and Lee Sang-ho who had been accused of plagiarizing underground rock band Ynot?'s "Bluebird" from their 2008 mini-album "GreenApple".

The court is seen to have made an objective judgement which fully reflected the analysis and opinion of professionals looking into the case, FNC stated.

Composers Kim and Lee said, "We'd been very distressed these days due to the accusation but feel lighthearted now that the verdict is out. We're hoping that others will not be wrongly accused in the future."

Ynot? had filed the suit against the two composers of "Alone" around March 2010, demanding for up to KRW 50 million won in compensation.

Ynot? is regarded one of the most talented underground bands in Korea who released their first record "This is the Freedom to the Power!" in 2002. The quartet have since put out several single albums, collaboration albums and most recently their second full-length album titled "Agirangyi Rhythm".

CNBLUE is a four-member indie rock band who first debuted in Japan with the mini-album "Now or Never". They released their Korean debut album "Bluetory" in January 2010, whose title track "Alone" went on to conquer several music charts in the country.

They are currently promoting title track "Intuition" from their first full-length album "FIRST STEP" which has dominated a number of online music charts and scored various wins on televised music programs. The album has topped charts in Japan and Taiwan as well.
