Jung Ryeo-won was sorry to see kissing scene cut in new film

Actress Jung Ryeo-won has said she felt sad to see her kissing scene with co-star Kim Ju-hyeok edited out in her upcoming war flick.

She made the remark in Seoul on Tuesday at a press conference for the film "In Love and the War" while speaking about her romantic scenes with Kim.

"There is a kissing scene between Kim and I but after talking with the director we decided to cut it out. We felt that it was inappropriate with the movie's storyline being set during war times," Jung explained.

"I was sorry to see how the love between my character and Jung's character did not come to fruit," Kim responded when told the two's romantic scenes did not stand out. "We felt we had to draw the line to show more on the other characters since the film isn't focused just on Jung and me."

Jung quipped in, saying, "I too was personally disappointed about the scenes being cut. The love and consideration the two characters feel for each other is not different from how people today feel. It's just set in a different time period."

In film "In Love and the War," Jung plays the role of Seol-hee, a teacher in a small South Korean village who meets North Korean officer Jung-woo played by Kim.

The story tells about the Korean War in 1950 of how North Korean troops enter the small village to ferret out the reactionaries while forming bonds with the villagers.

The war flick, which also stars actors Yu Hae-jin and Byun Hee-bong, will open in local theaters on April 28.
