MBC's popular 2011 TV series is to vie for the Best Telenovela trophy at the prestigious International Emmy Awards "Iron Daughters-in-law," one of the broadcaster's hit dramas aired last year, has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the annual ceremony that will take place at the Hilton Hotel in New York on November 19.With the news, the family drama has become the broadcaster's fifth soap opera to be shortlisted for the award after "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince" (2007), "White Lie" [translated title] (2008-2009), "Queen Seon-duk" (2009) and "Golden Fish" (2010).The Shin Ae-ra and Lee Honey starrer will compete with Brazil's "O Astro" and Portugal's "Remedio Santo" and "Rosa Fogo."This year, Portugese productions are receiving more spotlights as winners have been chosen from the country the last two consecutive years.The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was established in 1969to present the best television programs produced, and initially aired, outside the U.S., during its annual ceremony.※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
