KARA scores most downloads in Japan for K-pop artist

K-pop female group KARA's Japanese singles have recorded the most downloads in Japan amongst Korean artists.September data on the website of the official Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) showed thatKARA's Japanese singles have accumulated about a total 3.7 million downloads including ringtones and digital singles.KARA's debut single "Mister" brought in over 1.7 million downloads followed by their second single "Jumping" which scored about 1.2 million downloads while "Jet Coaster Love" and "GO GO SUMMER" both achieved 350,000 downloads. KARA, composed of members Gu Hara, Han Seung-yeon, Park Gyu-lee, Kang Ji-young and Nicole, is currently one of the most successful Korean girl groups to break into the Japanese market. The girls have sold over 100,000 copies of their Japanese singles in just a week of their release and have claimed several titles on Japan's prestigious Oricon chart.
