“The Suicide Forecast” enters No. 1 on weekend box office

Korean movie “The Suicide Forecast” entered the box office first place for the weekend of April 15 to 17, according to the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) on Monday. “The Suicide Forecast,” which premiered last Thursday, greeted a total of 279,636 moviegoers in 497 theaters nationwide for the past three days,Starring Ryoo Seung-bum, Sung Dong-il and Park Chul-min, the movie is about an insurance company salesman who tries to persuade his existing clients with the possibility to commit suicide for various reasons, to cancel the life insurances he had forced on them, by trying to make them more hopeful of their lives.Previous winner “Meet The In-Laws,” which had stood a champion on box office for two straight weeks, took to the No. 2 spot after bringing in 265,795 viewers.“Meet The In-Laws,” a romantic comedy starring Song Sae-byeok and Lee Si-young, portrays the deep-rooted regionalism existent in Korea in the 1980’s through Hyun-joon, (played by Song) a cartoonist from Jeolla Province, who has to meet with the parents of his girlfriend Da-hong (Lee) from the Gyeongsang Province.American film “Hanna” which also took off last Thursday, arrived third on the chart after selling 117,015 tickets during the weekend. Starring Saorise Ronan, Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett, the film is about teenage girl Hanna who get raised by an ex-CIA father who trains her to become an assassin in the wilderness of Finland. After traveling across Europes while being chased by intelligence agents, she comes across an unexpected secret that involves the reason of her unusual existence.
