The latest releases by K-pop idol groups 2PM and T-ara have ranked within the top three of Oricon's weekly music chart, according to data compiled by Oricon on Thursday.
2PM's fourth Japanese single "Beautiful" placed itself at No. 2 on Oricon's weekly singles chart after moving an impressive number of 141,236 copies since hitting stores on June 6.
This feat comes as no surprise since "Beautiful," dropped in three different editions, already saw a high sales figure on the day of its release.
The boys' successful album, which includes four different versions of the title "beautiful" and another song "If You Have" (translated title), instantly debuted at the second place on Oricon's daily chart that day.
The song is currently being played as the background song for a Japanese TV commercial as well.
Meanwhile, T-ara also spent a lucrative week with their first official Japanese album "Jewelry Box," which went on sale on June 7.
The group's seven members, who are expecting new member Areum to be added to the team next month and another member Dani later this year, saw its album grabbing the second spot on the weekly album chart after moving 58,102 copies.
"Jewelry Box" lists the Japanese version of their previous singles "Bo Peep Bo Peep," "yayaya," "Roly-Poly" and "Cry Cry" as well as original Japanese songs such as "LOVE ME!~あなたのせいで狂いそう," "Keep Out" and "Apple is A."
Meanwhile, T-ara will kick off a nationwide tour where the girls will hold a total of 11 shows in six cities starting with the first run in Nagoya on June 19.
