MBC's "Light and Shadow" is maintaining its reign atop the Monday and Tuesday primetime lineup despite seeing a decline in viewership ratings.
"Light and Shadow" is on course to break its own record of extending the show's winning streak with an average rating of 19.4 percent this week, according to data compiled by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics).
The show, which goes around the story of a show biz group in one of the darkest times in Korean history between the 1970s and 1980s, has been seeing its ratings drop during the past few weeks.
However, with its strong backbone of the plot and big name casts including Ahn Jae-wook and songstress Son Dambi, "Light and Shadow" is far ahead of its competitors from the other two major broadcasters.
Having about ten percentage points behind the MBC drama, SBS' "Fashion King" sat at No. 2 again after pulling in 10.8 percent of the total viewers during the same period.
"Fashion King" -- starring Yoo A-in, Shin Se-gyeong, Kwon Yuri and Lee Je-hoon -- got off to a soft start with ratings around ten percentage mark but the numbers have been stable throughout this week's 15th and 16th episodes.
Meanwhile, Jang Keun-suk and Yoona's "Love Rain" is still struggling at the bottom of the list by staying in between five and six percent.
AGB Nielson Media Research also showed the dramas in the same order of popularity on both days, but with slightly different numbers.
AGB announced this morning that "Light and Shadow" ruled the chart with an average rating of 21.6 percent, followed by "Fashion King" and "Love Rain" each posting 9.2 and 5.4 percent this week.
