Korean idol Park Yuchun of boy band JYJ will fulfill his duty in the two-year mandatory military service as a public service worker.
A rep with his agency C-JeS Entertainment told 10Asia in a phone interview on Friday that Park has received a class four physical disability rating from his medical examination by the Military Manpower Administration.
"Park suffered from asthma in the past. He will fulfill his duties as a public service worker, but we asked the MMA to delay his enlistement because of his ongoing series 'Rooftop Prince,'" the official explained, adding that he was originally announced to undergo his training starting May 21.
As a part of JYJ, Park returned to the local music scene with other members in October 2010. He expanded his career into acting and starred in "SungKyunKwan Scandal" (KBS, 2010) and his second drama "Miss Ripley" (MBC, 2011).
He is currently playing the Joseon Dynasty's Crowned Prince Lee Gak in SBS' "Rooftop Prince," which tells time-transcending characters adjusting to the modern Korean society in 2012.
