Korean idol Minho of boy band SHINee will take on his second acting role in an upcoming SBS sitcom, according to a press release from the show's broadcaster SBS on Friday.
SBS announced that Minho will take on the character of a genius hacker named Minhyuk in the sitcom "Salamander Guru and Gang" (translated title) set to air every Friday nights starting January 27.
"Salamander," a ten-part series helmed by producer Park Seung-min, will tell the story of swindlers that capture a fortune teller in order to take over her job only to find out that they have a knack for telling people's fortune.
The show also features an all-star cast of actors Oh Dal-su, Im Won-hee and Lee Byeong-jun and actress Ryu Hyun-kyung.
Minho, trained under major talenthouse SM Entertainment, made his debut as the rapper of boy band SHINee in 2008. He made his acting debut in November 2010 with a role in "KBS Drama Special: Pianist" opposite actress Han Ji-hye.
