The Grace member Dana has been cast in a TV series special set to show starting New Year's Day.

A press release by her agency SM Entertainment said on Friday that the 25-year-old singer will play the daughter of actor Jung Woong-in in season 2 of KBS' special drama series named "Amore Mio."

"Amore Mio" will be a four-part mystery drama telling about the daughter, soon to get married, tracing her father's past after coming across a clue he had kept hidden.

"I'm happy to get to show a new side to myself through the drama. I'd like to do well at this opportunity as much as she is similar to me in many ways," Dana was quoted as saying in the statement.

Dana, whose real name is Hong Sung-mi, became popular with her debut as a solo artist in 2001, coupled with her appearance in hit sitcom "Nonstop 3" the following year.

In 2005, she joined quartet The Grace in 2005 which last released an album in 2008 and since then, she has appeared in a couple of musicals and continued with her singing career through The Grace unit Dana&Sunday as well.
