Korean actress Lee Min-jung and actor Lee Jung-jin have been cast as the leads in an upcoming film, according to the film's producer Showbox on Tuesday.
Showbox said through a press release that Lee Min-jung will the play the role of Gina opposite Lee Jung-jin who will take on the character Lee Jae-ik in the movie "Wonderful Radio (translated title)" set to crank in at the end of June.
"Wonderful Radio," to be helmed by Korean auteur Kwon Chul-in whose works include "Singles" and "Hellcats," tells the story of former girl group leader Gina who is the DJ of a low-rated radio segment while producer Lee Jae-ik tries to help her save her show.
Lee Min-jung is best known for playing the role of Ha Jae-kyung in SBS' hit teenage series "Boys Over Flowers" and landed her first lead role in SBS' weekend drama "Smile, You" opposite actor Choung Kyung-ho.
The actress has also appeared in films "Searching for the Elephant (2009)," "White Night (2009)" and "Cyrano Agency (2010)." She recently starred in SBS' Monday and Tuesday series "Midas" alongside actor Jang Hyuk.
Lee Jung-jin started out as a model and later expanded his career into films “Spirit of Jeet Kune Do: Once Upon a Time in High School (2004),” “Mapado (2005),” “Troubleshooter (2010)” and TV series "“9 End 2 Outs (MBC, 2007),” and “I Love You, Don’t Cry (MBC, 2008)."
His latest work "Fugitive: Plan B (KBS, 2010)" recently premiered on Japan's CS satellite channel last month.
