Singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong has decided to set up an official fan club for which its members are currently being recruited, revealed his agency KEYEAST on Friday.
Since early this week and until May 8, Kim's official website is receiving applications from fans both home and overseas in joining Kim's fan club which will launch its activities in time with his solo debut early next month.
Kim had been pushing for the establishment of his fan club in order to stay in close touch with his fans and he himself chose the club's name “Henecia” which combines “H” from his name “Hyun-joong” and the word “Benecia” meaning “blessed” in Latin, among the final three candidates of 500 suggestions, KEYEAST explained.
“We already have fans who have been leaving notes and are showing pride in becoming the member of Henecia even before its official launch,” an official at KEYEAST was quoted as saying on the statement. “We’ll make sure to make this fan club a close, family-like gathering for fans who love Kim Hyun-joong regardless of nationality.”
Kim, 24, made his debut as the leader of the popular boy band SS501 in 2005. He became a household name throughout Asia, starring in KBS’ smash hit series “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009.
He recently took part in a promotional event in Japan for drama “Naughty Kiss," the Korean small screen adaptation of the Japanese comic “Itazura na Kiss," in which he plays the role of Baek Sung-jo.
He is currently preparing for the release of his solo album which will be released around early June.
