The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has appointed boy band Super Junior as promotional ambassadors for Hansik, or Korean food.
According to a press release by the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Super Junior was designated the ambassadors to promoting Korean food in 2011 under the slogan “Discover Korea’s Delicious Secret!”
The specialty meal presented at this year’s Korean food ceremony was Korea’s assorted vegetable rice dish called 'bibimbap' with additional use of meat ingredients -- bulgogi (marinated beef), samgyeopsal (pork belly meat), hanwoo yukhoe (Korean style raw beef) and white chicken meat.
Member Lee Teuk, Shindong, Heechul and Yesung were present at the event held at the ministry's Gwacheon Government Complex yesterday.
“If bibimbap with its diverse colors and menu fused with with Super Junior’s Hallyu wave, it would produce great synergy in making Korean food known overseas,” Minister Yoo Jeong-bok was quoted as saying in the statement.
Super Junior has been one of the most popular and successful K-pop acts in the Asia region since their debut in late 2005 with many hit songs such as “Sorry Sorry,” “U” and “Don’t Don.”
