Award-winning director Kang Yi-kwan’s new project is expected to make more noise by grabbing two awards at the Tokyo International Film Festival. The movie’s distributor Time Story said in a statement Monday that “Juvenile Offender” received Award for Best Actor and Special Jury Prize at the 25th TIFF closing ceremony held in Japan last Sunday. Especially, actor Seo Young-ju, the movie’s male lead, became the youngest and first Korean actor to win the best actor prize at the TIFF, Time Story officials added. Touching sensitive social issues including juvenile crimes and single mothers, “Juvenile Offender” centers around a teenage boy [played by Seo] on probation.The boy reunites with his mother [actress Lee Jung-hyun], who he had believed gave birth to him at the age of 17 and was dead.
